Dear Ron, this is the will of Harriet Blakeney deceased.
In the name of God, amen. I, Harriet Blakeny , a woman of color, formerly the property of Thomas Blakeny, now emancipated, agreeable to the acts of Assembly of the county of Montgomery abd state of west Tenn, being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory , calling to mind that all people was appointed by the Almighty one to die, do ordain and constitute this my last will and testament in the manner and form following. Item 1st, I do give to my beloved children , Fredrick Blakeny, John Blakeny, Tobias Blakney, Olvin Blakeny, Thomas Blakeny, the following property to witt: 4 head of horses,all my stock of cattle, sheep, and hogs, three feather beds and furniture, household and kitchen furniture, flock of geese, to be equally divided between my 5 sons, as above named, as they become of age, but should any of the die before they come of age, then for it to be equally divided among the surviving. I also give unto Jane Blakeny, wife of Fredrick Blakeny, my saddle. I do give to my sister Charity, all my wearing clothes. Lastly, I nominate Thomas Blakeny, Sr. Executor, for this my last will and testament, revoking and disanulling all other wills, legacies or bequeaths heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this my last will on the 18th day of Dec. 1822, having hereunto set my hand.
