Jimmy Blakeney - PINEY FLATS
Jimmy D. Blakeney, 65, of Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2006.

He was born in Millport, Alabama on Monday, January 20, 1941 to the late L.D. and Mavis F. Blakeney and moved to Oak Ridge in 1944. He graduated from Central High School and attended Hiwassee College.

He worked for Alber?s Wholesale Drug Company in Knoxville and was later transferred to the Tri-Cities Warehouse in Bristol, Tennessee, where he was Operations Manager.

Jimmy loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing (particularly on the Suwannee River ) and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of Fellowship Chapel and the Emmaus Way Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Cindy Bowers Blakeney; a sister, Cheryl Watters of Knoxville; a niece, Whitney Watters of Knoxville; his father-in-law, Hurshel Bowers and his wife Wanda of Jonesborough; his mother-in-law, Anne K. Bowers of Norton; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 Wednesday evening, December 27, 2006, at Fellowship Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8 o?clock. The Rev. Scott Price will officiate.

The committal service will be at 11 o?clock Thursday morning in Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery. Entombment will follow.

Pallbearers will be C.W. Hatcher, Jerry Kinkead, Rex Pendergrass, William Rosenbalm, Richard Francisco, Randy Oliver, Larry Peery and Hank Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Emmaus Way Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Fellowship Chapel Building Fund, 101 Crockett Street, Bristol, VA 24201 or to Wellmont Hospice, 280 Steele?s Road, Bristol, TN 37620.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sue Prill and her staff and Dr. Michael Rowell for all their kindness and especially the hospice nurses who were so wonderful.
