Karl Blank (the father of your Charles) is the son of Frederich and Bertha Blank. They arrived in the USA at the Port of Baltimore on May 17, 1873 aboard the Bark Clara. Also with them were Karl's brothers Wilhelm and Hermann and Frederich's brother, Albert.
They travelled with Karl and Wilhelmine Hardt (my great grandparents) and their children, Augusta, Caroline, Wilhelmine and Hermann. The day before they landed in Baltimore, Augusta died of consumption (TB).Hermann died in August before they all reached their final destination, Neenah, WI.
I have a copy of the passenger list when they arrived in Baltimore.
They all were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah where baptismal, marriage and death records are still available (see Pastor Otterstetter).
The families were very close and named their children all similar names.I believe we are likely related and am searching for the town in Germany that they left from.Is there any Blank in your line that might have more information on this topic?
By the way, Karl's father, Frederich, was in an industrial accident in 1880 and spent the last 25 years of his life in bed. He died in 1905.I am in the process of getting both his and Bertha's death certrificates. They are not in Winnebago County records but are in the Vital Records department of the State of Wisconsin in Madison.
Let me know if you have anything on where they came from if you can.
Thanks and good luck searching,
Bill Hardt
