Lindsay,

A distant relative of mine wanted to know more about Nicholas Blank, husband of Margaretha Ruffing. I have a copy of your letter to me, in which you wrote Nicholas Blank and Margaret Titon could be Nicholas' parents. He wanted to know if Nicholas Blank had been in the civil war and what part of Germany he came from. I would appreciate so much if you would write to me. I copied your letter and had it in my files, but didn't copy your email address or where I copy your letter from the internet.

I would love any information from you about the Blank family and your family. Whatever I can give you please let me know. Most of what I know is already out there. But there might be something I can help you with.

Here is copy of my letter I sent to him.

Andy,

My mother's maiden name was Mary McElhinny. She married John Lang. Joseph A. McElhinny was a brother to Perry McElhinny. Joseph is my grandfather.

My mother's parents were:
Father: Joseph A. McElhinny
Born March 19, 1873 in Jefferson Twp., Pa.
Died Dec. 2, 1952 at 517 Romine Ave., McKeesport,
Pa.
Mother: Catherine M. Schweitzer
Born March 22, 1875 in Dravosburg, Pa.
Died April 1, 1958.

Parents of Catherine M. Schweitzer
Father: Mathias Schweitzer (1848-1917)
Mother: Barbara Schneider (1851-1936)

They got married May 5, 1874.
Brothers: Peter, Charles, Joseph, Albert
Sisters: Mathiloa, Emma, Cecelia (Schorr)

Note: Catherine was a cousin to Philomena Schweitzer, Sam McElhinny's wife. Joseph and Catherine are buried at New St. Joseph Cemetery, N. Versailles, Pa. I am the youngest of seven children of John and Mary Lang. I don't know much about the Blank family. Maybe they could help you at St. Agnes in West Mifflin, Pa. But I'll keep looking for you.

Cathy,

I was searching the web and I came across the info you posted about Nicholas Blank and Margaretta Ruffing. Very cool stuff. My father is Joseph Kevin McElhinny. He is the first born of Edward McElhinny Who was the oldest son of Margaret Blank and Perry McElhinny. My dad is really interested in any information you have about Nicholas Blank. Do you know the exact town in Bavaria he came from? Did he serve in the civil war? Etc. Anything you can share would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew McElhinny
