Evelyn Smith Blevins, 82, beloved wife of Kyle Blevins,
with 55 years of marriage, went home to be with her Lord,
whom she took as her personal Savior in 1945, on Monday,
July 6, 2009.
Evelyn was born March 16, 1927, to the late Kyle and Lonna
Combs Smith. Evelyn was a wonderful wife and homemaker.
She was a secretary for Massengill, Beecham Glaxo Smith
Kline, retiring in 1985 with 40 years of service. She was
a member of Enterprise United Methodist Church and Eastern
Star for more than 50 years. Evelyn was very active in her
church and community.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death
by two brothers, Lynn Smith and Wayne Smith; and one
sister, Dorothy.
Survivors are, along with her husband Kyle, brothers, Ed
Smith, Charles Smith and wife Peggy, and Jim Smith and
wife Ruth Ann; sister, Barbara Hollomon and husband Sonny;
best friend, Sylvia Sams; and many close friends and family.
Friends may visit family at the home of Barbara and Sonny,
295 Sycamore Drive, Brooklea Subdivision, Beaver Creek
Road, Bluff City, TN. There will be a sympathy card box
beside the guestbook at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:45
p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in the Paul Cook Memorial
Chapel at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m., with the Rev.
Dan Theiben and the Rev. Jack Stevens officiating. Bluff
City Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 414 will conduct an
Eastern Star Ceremony. Pallbearers will be nephews and
friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Lenville Sams, men
of Enterprise United Methodist Church, and Bluff City
Order of the Eastern Star.
The committal and interment will be held at 1 p.m.,
Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2009, in Tri-Cities Memory
Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Enterprise
Church, 2000 Enterprise Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
