William Henry 'Bill' Blevins, 87, VA/TN, obituary; Jackson-Blevins
William Henry 'Bill' Blevins, 87, of Abingdon, VA, passed
away Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the Abingdon Manor,
Abingdon, VA.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Oscar
Dalton Blevins, Sr., and Odie Lena Jackson Blevins. Mr.
Blevins was a U.S Army Veteran and served during World War
II. After he was discharged, he re-enlisted and served
during the Vietnam War. During his time in service Mr.
Blevins received three purple hearts.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Charles
Hester.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Lester Lewis, Johnson
City, TN; three brothers, Oscar Dalton Blevins, Jr. and
Earl Blevins, both of Johnson City, TN; Jackson Edward
'Jack' Blevins and wife Evelyn, Kingsport, TN.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted
Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at 1 p.m., at the VA Mountain
Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington Co TN,
with Military Honors presented by the Boone Dam V.F.W.
Anyone who wishes to attend the graveside is asked to meet
at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m., Wednesday.
