Anna was born in Wise Co VA, on April 22, 1919, one of twelve children born to the late Henry Hopkins and Margaret Glovier Blevins. She married Raymond Patrick Castle on March 14, 1938. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Bluefield, WVA. Anna attended Bluefield College to study art and was an active member of the Artist Association of Mercer Co WV, and won Best of Show. The subject of her painting that year was her family's Old Home Place. She was active in the Tazewell County VA Extension Club. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Castle; their daughter, Janet Castle Flynn; and a grandson, Robert Patrick Moore; six brothers, Byron Blevins, Lonnie Blevins, James Blevins, Cecil Blevins, Bill Blevins, and Paul Blevins; five sisters, Myrtle Blevins, Ruby Ramey, Resemae Blevins, Agnes Fleenor, and Vera Blevins. She is survived by three daughters, Jennie Moore, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Clara Castle Booher, of Charlotte, NC, and Joyce Castle Coffie, of Bluefield, WV; and two sons, Robert Jerry Castle, of Hickory, NC, and Raymond Castle, Jr., of Elbert, WV. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011, at The First Baptist Church in Saint Paul, VA. This is the church where Anna worshiped as a child. Visitation will start one hour before at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First Baptist Church, 3103 Deacon Dr., Saint Paul VA 24283.
