Donald 'Ted' Blevins, 73, TN, obit; s/o Gleason Fred & Edith Durham Blevins

Donald 'Ted' Blevins, 73, of Piney Flats, Sullivan Co TN,
entered peacefully into Heaven on Saturday, May 28, 2011,
at the Johnson City Medical Center, with his loving family
by his side. He was born November 22, 1037.

Mr. Blevins was a loving and devoted husband, father,
grandfather, and uncle, who lived life to the fullest
until he fell ill a few short weeks ago.

He got his first mandolin as a child and began playing
music with his brothers. He continued playing music
throughout his life with his unique style of pickin',
which was enjoyed by many. In recent years, he enjoyed
gathering at many venues in the local area, including;
Lazy Time Pickin Parlor in Weber City, Red Barn, The
Anderson House, The Welcome Center, and at his own weekly
gathering of musicians at his bus station pickin' parlor.

He was the owner and operator of the Greyhound Bus Station
in Bristol for thirty six years. He was also a veteran of
the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his love for family, he had a great love
for bluegrass music.

He was a son of the late Gleason Fred and Edith Josephine
Durham Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by his wife of forty six years, Edith Louise
(Proffitt) Blevins; and two brothers, Fred Blevins and
Lewis Blevins.

Mr. Blevins is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth 'Beth'
Wolf and husband Donovan; son, John Lee Blevins and wife
Meribeth; grandchildren, Hanah Wolf, Owen Wolf, Katie
Price, and 'Baby girl' Blevins, due in September; an aunt,
Armetta Hunigan, all of Piney Flats, TN; and many special
nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bert J.
Smith and Dr. Bill N. Boswell for their heartfelt care and
compassion. The family would also like to thank the
nursing staff of the ICU, especially Jonathan.

The family will also receive friends at the home place on
Monday, May 30, 2011, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.,
on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m., with Rev. Jim
Hawk officiating.

The committal service and interment will be held at 11 a.m.,
on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in McLaney Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be John Blevins, Donovan Wolf, Mark Blevins, Randy
Blevins, Mark Proffitt, Robert Proffitt, Alan Stout, and
Chris Hoback. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Ramsey,
Bill Boswell, and Jim Stidham.
