SWilliam E. 'Ted' Blevins Sr., 94, TN, obit; s/o Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Blevins

SWilliam E. 'Ted' Blevins Sr., 94, was born on September
23, 1918, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Blevins in
Knoxville, TN. He had one brother, Harvey Blevins. Ted
departed this life on January 31, 2012, at Wellmont
Hawkins County Hospital, Hawkins Co TN.

In 1943, he married Cecile Sue Francisco who preceded him
in death after 64 wonderful years of marriage. To this
union 3 children were born, Barbara Sue Smith (who
preceded them in death), Vivian Isom and William 'Bill'
Blevins, Jr. Ted (as he was affectionately known).

He was a dedicated member of the Hasson Street Christian
Church, Disciples of Christ for over 50 years, where he
served as a Deacon, a Trustee, Adult Bible Teacher and a
Moderator. Ted was awarded an Associates of Arts degree
from Swift Memorial Junior College; a Bachelors of Science
degree in Mathematics from Tennessee State University,
Nashville and did graduate work in Administration and
Supervision at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Ted
served as a Principal at Swift High School in Rogersville
for 10 years. He was an administrator, teacher and coach
over a course of 37 years in Hawkins, Greene and Hancock
Counties in Tennessee and Woodruff Co AK.

Mr. Blevins was a three term member of the Rogersville
City Council as Alderman; a member of the Rogersville
Housing Authority and the Rogersville Parks and Recreation
Board; a Building Member of the Hawkins County Senior
Citizens and Library Board; a member of the Board of
Directors of Helping Hands and Reliable Products of
Hawkins County and the past Vic President of the Hawkins
County Retired Teachers Association. He was a 33rd Degree
Mason and the Past Master of the Holston Lodge #320; past
member of the Universal Lodge #239, Star of Zion #256 OES,
Smith Consistory #187, Lane Chapter #16 Royal Arch Mason,
Lane Commandery #24 Knights of Templar, Hasan Shrine
Temple #150, past Deputy of District #16.

In 1983, Mr. Blevins was named the Mason of the Year by
the Prince Hall Masons in the State of Tennessee, he
served as the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Price Hall
Masons for the State of Tennessee from 1991-1999. Ted
loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments.
He looked forward to Easter and Thanksgiving Holidays to
spend time with his family and we did too. To some he
was 'Gramps, to others he was Fodder or Pops.' But above
all the accomplishments and affiliations he has, he is a
Giving, Respected, Accomplished, Motivated, Proud, Stern
person that will be truly missed by his family and
friends. To be absent from the body is to be present with

He is survived by his daughter, Vivian Isom, Rogersville,
TN; son, William E. 'Bill' Blevins, Jr. (Joann), of
Greeneville, TN; and son-in-law, John H. Smith, Sr.,
Bristol, VA; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grand-
children; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of
other relatives, friends and church family.

The family will receive friends, Friday, February 3, 2012,
from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Colboch-Price Funeral Home.
Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 p.m., conducted by
the Prince Hall Lodge, State of Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Febuary 4,
2012, at the Rogersville Middle School, 958 East McKinney

Interment will follow in Mitchell Crest Cemetery.
