He was born July 5, 1928, a son of the late Aaron Walter Blevins and Ella Arnold Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ada Anna Blevins; one brother; and four sisters. Irvin was a fine Southern Gentleman, who always thought of others, shared with others, did for those in need, had a great love of animals and lived each day completely. He retired from Eastern Concrete Products Inc., where he was a Plant Manager. He was a member of the Tennessee Road Builders Association, a former President of the Tennessee Prestress Association, former member of Kingsport Shrine Club and Jericho Temple. He was also active in the Amateur Trapshooting Association, Gun Club, Sharp shooting and Deer Hunting. Irvin was a veteran having served his country in the US Army, 25th Infantry during the Korean War. He was awarded the CIB UN Svc Medal, Korean Svc Medal, 1 Bz Svc Star, National DEF Svc Medal, 1 O/S Bar and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of South Bristol United Methodist Church. Living and working most of his life in Kingsport, TN, Irvin enjoyed his 'Golden Years' living at Broadmore Senior Living in Bristol, TN, making many friends, enjoying life each day, and having a great time. He is survived by nieces, Charlene C. Damron, of Nashville, TN, Carolyn C. Slagle and Cynthia Greene, of Bristol, TN; and nephew Curtis Burnette, of Bristol, TN; and several great nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2012, in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery, with Dr. Charles Ledger officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis Burnette, Paul Damron, John Harrington, Bob Slagle, Herman Foster, Bill Stephenson James Lester and Frank Shelley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to South Bristol United Methodist Church, 1809 Southside Ave., Bristol, TN 37620.
