Hello Alison
The 1851 census at Burnham gives Joseph Blew aged 35, a miller born Burnham, wife Betsy aged 36 b Burnham. They have a visitor Edwin Peach Legg aged 6 b Taunton with them and William Labdon, 18, cook b Taunton and John Labdon, millers servant aged 16 b Dunster.
The only Joseph from the 1841 census that may fit is from this family
1841 Upton Somerset
John Blue aged 60 Ag lab
Ann Blue aged 62
Samuel Blue aged 25
Joseph Blue age 22 ag lab
I have not been able to find a marriage for Betsy and Joseph and it looks as if there were no children. At 1861 Joseph and Betsy were at Edithmead, they had a nephew living with them Joseph Blew(?) Washer aged 6, Joseph was listed as Miller and Farmer. By 1871 Joseph Blew was a widower living at Bristol Road Burnham, a retired miller and landowner and Mary Ann Washer b Burnham aged 49, sister in law was living with Joseph as housekeeper, possibly Joseph Blew Washer who is still living with Joseph Blew in 1871 was her son? Interesting in 1871 Elizabeth Coomber is staying with Joseph, listed as a visitor, she was 35.
Looks as if Elizabeth and Joseph became a couple (but did not marry) Amy Elizabeth Blew Coombes was baptised 1 Nov 1881 to Eliza Coombes and there was a son Joseph Blew Coombes born in 1872
There is an entry for an Eliza Blew at 179 Fulham Road, Chelsea (cancer hospital) in 1881 and she died not long after but was buried as Eliza Coombes, this may have been why Amy was not baptised soon after birth but after her Mother had died.
In 1891 Amy was staying with her Aunt Ann Smeltzer nee Coombes, but when Joseph junior married Phoebe Whitcombe in 1896 both Joseph and Amy signed as Coombes Blew.
I do have more info including the 1911 census, but you may not be abke to connect this Blew family to yours.
