Hello Pat,
YES!It is ALL familiar!!!! The Thomas who was the brother of your grandfather, Patrick, was married to a woman named Catherine in England. They had seven children. The names of the children were Eddy (sp??), Jack, May, Monica (went by Mona), James, Thomas and Denis.Denis and Thomas were the only two that moved to the United States out of the seven.Denis was my great grandfather, and he married Melita Spencer.Melita was originally from a small fishing town in Canada called Trillingate in Newfoundland. I don't know much about the seven children.I know that Jack Bligh was some sort of actor in England.I also know that Mona was some sort of Captain in World War II, and that she never married or had children.Denis and Melita had three children and their names were Charles, David and Linda. David married a woman named Irene and they had five children, one of which was named Richard (Rick) who is my father.
I looked up on ellisisland.org the name Patrick Bligh and there are only three names that appear.Could it be possible that your grandfather came to the USA in 1892?The other two Patrick Blighs came to the USA in 1905 and 1922.Also, if you look up Thomas Bligh (this would be Patrick Bligh's nephew) you can see that he came to the USA to live with his uncle, Patrick Bligh. In 1921, according to the ship's manifest, Patrick Bligh lived at 165 123rd Street, New York. I wonder if this address sounds familiar to you.
If you have any additional information about Patrick and Thomas Bligh, that would be fantastic. My family tree had hit a dead end with my great great grandfather Thomas (Patrick's brother) until your response. This is very exciting! Thanks and feel free to email me at [email protected].
