New find on the family of Christian BLAUCH of Berlin, Somerset Co., PA. A friend of mine, Audrey Groves, asked me to post this for her. She works in an antique shop in Arcola, Douglas County, Illinios. In her shop she found an old document, a genealogy of the Christian BLAUCH family--10 pages long, in careful and meticulous writing, very fragile, from 1908. Document unsigned, but that Illinois region has many Amish families, and others of Pennsylvania German origin. It traces forward for four generations the family of Christian BLAUCH who immigrated from Berne Switzerland (possibly with a brother John) arriving America 3 Nov 1750 with his young Swiss-born sons Jacob (b. 1740) and Christian (b. 1743). The elder Christian settled first in Lancaster County PA but moved from there to Somerset County in 1773 where he died in 1777. Son Jacob had sons Jacob and Christian and his descendants went "to western states and Canada." The document traces the descendants of Christian (b. 1743), and gives addresses of some descendants current as of 1908. Variant spellings of the surname in the document are Blough and Blouch.
Audrey will share the information on this lengthy document with whoever contacts her by email: And she means to send the original to a repository in Somerset County.
