Thanks for the compliment, but alas!most of what I have on them is secondhand, and the only real records I have are from the Censuses available for the family.
First -- through my secondhand sources, I have Amelia NAncy McMurtry as having been
born in 1785 in Mercer Co, KY, d January 19, 1849 Warrick Co, IN
m(1) William Goldsby on February 03, 1801 in Green Co, KY; Child of this marriage was Mary Goldsby
m(2) Tobias "Tubby" Bloyd on May 30, 1805 Green Co, KY
Chn of this marriage:
1. Elizabeth b sometime before 1815 (est) m on March 11, 1830 to Isaac Hudson b 1801, son of Isaac Hudson and Nancy (?)
2.Lepina b abt 1812 m William M Bloyd
3.Nancy b September 09, 1815 TN d June 01, 1864 Spencer Co, IN m November 18, 1833 in Spencer Co, IN to David Miller, who is probably some kin to Margaret Miller, but I don't for sure know how -- or how either of them relates to the rest of the Ohio Co KY > Warrick Co IN Millers who kept marrying Hudsons and their kin.
4.Preston Y. Bloyd b abt 1817 TN m Margaret Miller b May 24, 1818 KY on March 05, 1840 in Warrick Co, IN; both d Macon Co, MO?
5.Pareen b abt 1819 m William Borer
6.Ibby Ann b March 11, 1821 d February 20, 1878 Spencer Co, IN m Ford Wilkinson on June 20, 1848 in Spencer Co, IN
I am afraid that it is impossible to explain the gap of time without children, but perhaps the Black Hawk War and harsh conditions on the frontier may have had something to to do with it.If memory serves, people in Green Co sometimes had a hard time of it in those years.
The War of 1812 may have figured in there, too.My notes on Tubby are deficient -- I swear that my computer keeps eating my notes -- but perhaps he served in one or more militias for the defense of the countryside.
I am afraid that I have nothing further on this set of Goldsbys. My husband's Goldsbys may be of the same line; they were in James City Co, Goochland, Amherst, and perhaps Garrard Co VA, among others, before some went to KY.I didn't have anything on William's death.
The only thing I have done, since I am physically unable to go get well-documented data, is to look at patterns within the families based upon what is available online.I would not like to stake my life on any of it, but certain patterns do emerge.I still think that this bunch intermarried so freely together and did not intermarry nearly as much with many other surrounding families. Therefore they must have shared some common bond such as religion. Some, but not all, had been Quaker at one time.Perhaps some day we'll be able to find some church records which will shed some light on them.
Good luck to you -- please let me know if you find anything further on them.
