Still looking for info on this BLUM or BLUME family, especially descendants of Frederick (b 1846- an artist in Baltimore), Henriette, Anna and Caroline (m. to YOST).Here's what I know so far (sorry if it's long- please persevere): I have a Travel Release, dated 9 April 1864, from the Hesse-Cassel Police (Germany) granting permission to emigrate to North America to Philipp Heinrich BLUM from Wahlershausen (b. 5 June 1810), his wife Marie Elizabeth nee BRAUN (b. 8 June 1820 or 30-smudged) and their five children. 1. Friedrich Heinrich born 2 July 1846, 2. Henriette Karolina Amalie born 9 August 1848, 3. Anna Martha (?) born 10 Feb? 1851, 4. Wilhelm Karl born 3 Dec 1853, and 5. Karolina Bertha born 11 June 1860.

The transcription of the Manifest of the Ship Christel, dated 7 June 1864, (Bremerhaven, Germany to Baltimore, MD) lists them as: Heinrich, Marie, Friedrich, Henriette, Martin, Carl and Lina. Ages match, as does Heinrich's occupation, cabinetmaker, on both documents. The third child was transcribed as Martin, not Martha.

In 1870, I can only find the oldest son, now Fredrick BLUME, living in Baltimore with wife Katie and son Willie. I know from my other documents that Wilhelm Karl becomes Carl Christian Ferdinand BLUM (later Charles Blume) and moves to Philadelphia during the 1870's. Heinrich must die during this time because by 1880 Marie has remarried and been widowed again.

1880: Carl, his wife Emma KORB and daughter Ida are in Philadelphia,PA, as is his mother, now Mary SPECHT, living with her daughter Lena (Caroline). Frederick is still in Baltimore with another wife (Mary) and children William, John, Charles, Frederick and Gustav. I haven't found the others in the 1880 census.

Wilhelm Karl BLUM eventually became Charles C.F. BLUME, a cabinetmaker in Phila. His children were Ida, Caroline and Howard. Howard married Edith KINSEY and their children were Howard Jr(b.1912) and Margaret (b.1914). Howard married Eleanor POLLOCK (my line), and Margaret married George RICHARDS.

Karolina Bertha (Caroline, Lina or Lena) married Henry YOST in Philadelphia PA. I know of the following of their children: Irene, Dorothy, and William.

If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, please contact me. Thanks, Lynn Gallant-Blume
