Using the Manning files as a guide, I find that I am a decendant of Darling (Darley) Blume born 1770 and Martha Baxley. With so many Johns and Darlings in the family, even the Manning files makes a disclaimer as to the it's correctness. With this I mind, I know my Great Great Grandfahter was John Lewis Blume (1830- 1904). The Manning files states his father was Darling ( Darley) Blume and his mother was Martha Baxley. However, there was a Darling Blume born 1805. How can I verify the Manning file's claim that Darling (1770, Darley) was John Lewis Blume's father?
Another issue. The first John Blume had a son John in 1765. He had a son, John. The
will for John Blume Sr., dated 1816 is for the first John Blume or for John Blume born 1765 (His son)?
Family legend has it that the land grant in 1793 was for service in military during the
American Revolution. Is there a source to verify this?
Another question. Where did the Blumes come from? Family legend has three brothers coming to America from Germany. They arrived in New York where one stayed, one went west (Ohio?), and one south. Its a nice story, but where could I verify it?
One last thing: My father's Aunt Marie and Aunt Rita supposedly researched the Blumes back to the cursades and put it in a book. We have tried in vain to find it. Any one know where I can find it? Hope someone can help.
