Hi Susan

I am slowly preparing my own database of all Blunden birth, marriage and death information contained in the Civil Registers for England and Wales held at the Family Records Centre in London.

You didn't give any date information in your message other than the 1914? in the title, is this the date that they emigrated? Do have any sort of fix on their approximate birth year based on age at death?

Anyway, from my listing, I can tell you that in the period Sept 1837 to Dec 1900, there are 2008 Blunden births but only three that might fit your Jessie Mary Blunden:

Jessie Mary Blunden born Mar 1879 in Lambeth, ref 1d 396;
Jessie Maria Blunden born Mar 1877 in Tendring;
Jessie Blunden born Mar 1898 in Westbourne.

Over the same period, there are 31 John Blundens and 35 John middlename Blundens, but assuming that your siblings would have been born in the same place, the field is narrowed to:

John Blunden born Dec 1871 in Lambeth, ref 1d 411;
John James Blunden born Dec 1881 in Lambeth;
John Blunden born Dec 1859 in Tendring;
John Blunden born Jun 1877 in Tendring;
John Thomas Blunden born Dec 1876 in Westbourne.

Comparing these two lists, I think we can rule out the Westbourne births as the gap between the siblings is 22 years, and similarly the Tendring births are either 18 years or six months apart, which rules them out too. This leaves the Lambeth births, and given that they not only are just six years apart but also use exactly the names that you are looking for, I think that they are the most likely. I have therefore given you the index references for these above so that you could send off for the certificates if you were interested.

Hope this helps get you started, and let me know how you get on!

Ben
