Oh yes I know the BUNT family name was originally Blount from a William le Blund or le Blount who died about 1280 per the unpublished Blount Manuscript of Helen M. Prescott in her Genealogical Papers in the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My investigation so far shows that a William Blunt of 1642, the son of William Blount is the first to change the spelling of the name to better match the preferred pronunciation of the name. During the American Revolutionary War Jacob Blunt is listed in North Carolina and his daughter Mary married a Onesimus FUTCH in Craven County, North Carolina and they had a son they named Jacob Blunt FUTCH born it is thought about 1757 in South Carolina and he died 1812 in Amite County, Mississippi. He is listed in the census records of 1800 in Bladen County, North Carolina and is recorded that he received 160 acres on Bull Tail Creek joining his brother, John Futch and sold land in New Hanover County, 1792.
Thanks for reminding me to look for the other name.
