Greetings from NE Oregon. My name is Gary Larabee. Thelma, Alvaretta ,and Alice Boak were my aunts. My mother was Dorothy Mae. I've just recently been looking for information on JR and his wife. I thought I would start at the end of their lives and work backwards. I remember attending JR's funeral in the late 1950's (1959 ?) in Walla Walla. At that time Mom introduced me to JR's brother Ray from Kansas. He had traveled out on a Greyhound bus to be with JR's girls. Looking back on it now I think he probably met up with Alvaretta and Everett Hutton (Vale, Oregon) and rode to Walla Walla with them. I don't know Ray's age at that time but I do remember him being almost entirely bald and toothless. When he smiled his upper centeral incisors were the only teeth that were visable. Strange how some sights remain with us after so many years.
I've looked on the internet for links to JR... Cemeteries in Walla Walla county. These public records are lacking in completeness; therefore, I'm heading to Walla Walla in July to try to find his burial site and see what I can find in the city and county records. Last fall Terrie and I found where his house use to be on Electric Avenue. The small house and detached single car garge/work shop and huge trees are all gone. Newer houses are nearby, but the house site is now all grass/pasture like. A few blocks south is the Blue Mountain Shopping Mall. Nothing stays the same forever.
