1851 Census refers to:-

Nicholas Boak (hd) 36, a joiner born Mill House, Cumberland
Elizabeth Boak (wife) 38, born Alston, Cumberland
William Boak (son) 13, a striker born Alston, Cumberland
Nicholas Boak (son) 10, a scholar born South Shields
Elizabeth (daur) 6, a scholar born Sebergham, Cumberland
Sarah (daur) 5, a scholar born Carlisle.

All living in the Chirton, Preston, Merton area ref. 219 18.

In the 1871 census there is an Ann Boak (74) born Penrith and her daughter Ann (40), a domestic servant born Sketton, Cumberland living at 17 Dog Bank, All Saints.

Amongst the principal inhabitants in the Cumberland/Westmoreland directory,1829 there were:-
John Boak, farmer, Hutton Roof
Mary Boak, grocer, Crosby Ravensworth
Richard Boak, corn inspector, Midlegate, Penrith
William Boak, farmer, Dale Foot, Bretherdale.

I do have details of many other BOAK's but these are mainly from the Northumberland area. Let me know if you would like me to send you a copy.

If you are able to identify the parents of Robert Boak b. 1829, Rothbury (father was apparantley also called Robert and he was a farmer) I would like to know.
