Jennifer, Do not know if the following info is of any interest, but my husband's maternal grandmother is a Boakes, Beatrice Emily. Her husband was Thomas Alfred Boakes b 26/12/1914 in Herfield, England. Thomas Alfred's father was George Boakes and married a Florence Peacock, both were from the south of London. I have been told by my husbands uncle that the Boakes name has been traced back as far as 1435 to a small village called Boake in Scotland. There are still many Boakes living in the South of England but unfortuately work commitments and family make it difficult to speak to them as we now live in the Midlands. If any of the above rings a bell with you please contact and I will see if I can find out further details. Good hunting.

Sue Monk
