Are you aware that the church records of Harpertshausen have been microfilmed? The "family books" for the period 1655-1859 are available from your local Family History Center. Look in the phone book under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Family books are abstracted church records and about the best thing you will ever find!
Two other good resources would be the Germany Research Outline and the German Genealogical Word List. Total cost: $1.50. What bargains!
