Although I moved to LI at the age of 1, my family roots are in Brooklyn. Seems as though our connection may not be direct, however. I can tell you off the top of my head that my grandfather was William Elias Bodkin, born 1895, Brooklyn. His ancestor originally came to NYC around 1850s. He served in WWI, was a NYC fireman married to Helen Murphy and resided in Brooklyn. I believe his father's name was Patrick. His mother was of German descent and lived with my grandparents.
The only sibling of my grand father's that I met was his sister Sarah, she married Tom Reagan and they lived in Richmond Hill when I knew them. I am pretty sure there were other sibs, but would have to check with my father on that one. I am not aware of a doctor in the family.
