History Lesson, Please?
Posted by: Rod Date: December 06, 2001 at 04:10:42

In browsing through various Bodkin/Botkin family message boards, both at this and other sites, I continually see references to Bodkin/Botkin families living in Pendleton County, Virginia and/or West Virginia.
Can someone clarify this for me? There does not appear to be a "present day" Pendleton County, VIRGINIA. I'm sorry I don't know the history of W. Va. and Virginia that well. Was Pendleton County a part of Virginia initially and later became W. Virginia? Are we speaking about the same place...or those people who refer to it as Virginia in error?
I hope this isn't seen as a "dumb question" because I really need clarification. Thanks everybody for your assistance.
Rod
