I don't know where I've seen this, but have you checked out this possibility?
Could it be that your Delilah Bodkin was named for my William Bodkin's mother, Delilah (Dinah) Hicklin--the wife of James Bodkin (1742-1804)?
Actually my "unproven" records suggest that James Bodkin and Delilah Hicklin's son James Botkin, Jr. WAS her father now that I look at it. He was supposedly married to his first cousin Margaret Botkin, daughter of Charles Botkin (1738-1820) and Jemima Curl. They supposedly had at least six children: William (1793), Delilah (1797), Betsy, Jane, Eleanor and James III (1811).
Again...I don't have anything to "prove" this, but maybe it's something for you to look at--if you haven't already.
Good luck with your search. Let me know if you find out anything that proves or disproves the theory.
