Thank you so much for your input on the Bodkin family. While I do not know for sure where Delilah (Bodkin) Cobb lived while she was a resident of KY, I do know from her 1850-1870 census records that she was born in VA. The Cobb family Bible says she was born there in 1795.
Adam Cobb lived in Fleming Co. KY from about 1800 until he moved to MO around 1821. He does not appear in any KY census records because he was living in his father's household in the 1800-1820 census years. However, 2 other records indicate that he was in Harrison Co. KY at least for a brief time.
Adam also served in the same regiment as a William Bodkin in the War of 1812. At this point in my research, I am assuming that Adam Cobb and Delilah Bodkin met either through William Bodkin or when Adam was in Harrison Co. for a brief time.
So far the name of Delilah's father eludes me, but her given name certainly suggests that she may have been a descendant of James and Delilah Bodkin of VA. Several of Delilah's female descendants were named for her so the name certainly carried down in the family.
I'd be delighted to have any help you can give me. Deliah (Bodkin) Cobb is one of my brick walls. Thanks for writing.
