Slobodkin is a Russian Jewish name that gets Americanized or shortened to Bodkin but it is no relation to the more frequent Irish Galway County Clan named Bodkin that also gets Americanized by the Botkin spelling. Occasionally "s" is added on the end by Federal Census takers who could not spell the name correctly.
