Looking for any information on the parents of one Phillip Frederick Gruber, born 9/1848 in Bavaria (Germany).
His mother was Anna Maria Gruber (nee Nick), and was married to an (unknown) Gruber. The father (likely) passed away, and Anna Maria moved with Phillip to St. Louis, MO around 1856.
(NOTE: The spelling of the "Gruber", as well as the maiden name of "Nick" are from family lore, and could easily be incorrect.)
She married Francis L. Boehm, who adopted young Phillip, changing his last name to Boehm.
Anyone with any information on this, I would greatly appreciate it. Tracking the unknown biological father to an adopted son has proven quite the challenge...
