I have done some research on the net of the history of the Boehm, Boehme, Beam, Behm, Etc. > any form of the name.

It is a given name, from the surrounding neighbors, to the tribe of people called the Boii. The Boehm clan settled in the area now known as Bohemia. The Boii Hiem or the land of the Boii. This somehow translated into a Surname for the resident, Boii, that stayed after being chased away, from the Bohemian area.

They came from a group of tribes called the Celts. A war like tribe going back to an area somewhere in eastern Hungary, Galatia, Turkey(as it is known now. Maybe even as far north as the Black Sea area. It is not know if they were part of the Barbarians or Tartans or if they were chased by those Clans. But their migration was usually a violent one. Just ask the Romans.

If you want to know more of this history, maybe I can find the time to point you to the sources.
Ron
