I am a decendant of Samuel Boehm. The history of the Boehm family is well documented by Daniel Bly. Was probably born in Germany about 1715. Samuel arrived in Philadelphia Oct 27, 1738 aboard the ship St Andrew. Later lived in St. Mark's Parish, Orange (now Page) county VA, as early as June 25 1740, when bought 200 acres on Hawksbill Creek from Joseph Stoneman of Lancaster County PA for 20 pounds. He received a 170 acre grant adjoining his land from Lord Fairfax on March 26 1752, and sold 70 acres of it to Peter Ruffner on June 1 1762. Meanwhile in the summer of 1758 Samuel Boehm and his family were among those who fled back to PA due to Indian attacks in Virginia and he was one of the signers of the letter by the Virginia Mennonites to Holland requesting help. He sold the remaining 100 acres of the grant and 160 acres of the land he aquired from Stoneman to John Hershberger for 450 pounds on July 31, 1769. Boehm voted for George Washington for the Virginia House of Burgresses in July 1758 and on Sept 7 1758 he signed a letter to the Mennonites in Holland asking for help, stating that several Virginia Mennonite families had to flee to Lancaster PA because of Indian raids in Virginia. Samuel Boehm bought 300 acres on the South Fork of Mulberry Run in Fredrick (now Shenandoah) County VA, on August 2 1768, from Samuel Blackburn for 400 pounds and sold it to John Lockmiller on May 21 1782. On May 26 1778 he sold 21 1/2 acres to John Musselman. In 1782 he owned 565 acres of land in Shenandoah County VA. On Aug 2 1785 Boehm, as executor of Valentine Lockmiller, received a deed from John Wessant. On May 24 1785 , he sold 106 acres on the South Fork of Mulberry Run and 38 1/2 acres on Cedar Creek to his son Jacob Boehm and 198 acres to his son Reuben Boehm. On December 30 1793 , he sold seven acres on Mulberry Run to Thomas Newell for 48.12 pounds. He also served as guardian of Joseph Bowman, an orphan of Christian Bowman. Sameul Boehm made his made his will on June 8, 1795, dividing his propery among his wife, Elizabeth, and his children. The estate was probated on June 13 1797.
