Hi Karen -
My info on Peter/Petrus (b. 26 Nov 1746) is that he married Maria Ackerman (bp. 22 Nov 1747, daughter of Abraham Ackerman and Hester Demarest). Their children were: Abraham (bp. 15 Nov 1767), Petrus (b 22 Oct 1769), Rachel, John (b @ 1780) and Hester (bp. 19 Sept 1784).I cannot read where my relative got her information though ("The __ __ in Bergen County, NJ, with Genealogical Account of Some of It's Earlier __", by Howard I. Dorie? (Star Press)).Copy is too light. My second source on this is "The Ackerman Family", Compiled by Barbara W. Tobey for David Ackerman Descendants - 1662, Vol I, 1980.It states:MARIA, d/o Abraham Ackerman, bp 22 Nov 1747 wit: Pieter Demerest and wf; m. Peter P. Bogert.Children:Abram, bp 15 Nov 1767 and Petrus, b. 22 Oct 1769.My first source shows Peter married a 2nd time to Sarah Tuers. It also states: "Peter was a loyalist during the Revolutionary War and the homestead and land he inherited from his father were confiscated under a judgment entered against him in 1784 for "joining the British," and the property sold in 1787 to John Stevens, Jr.The estate remained in the possession of Rachel, his mother, however, whose rights under the father's Will did not expire until her death. In 1810, Peter repurchased the property from Stevens and sold portions at the same time, of which the homestead and 45 1/2 acres were acquired by Garrret H. Banta. He lived on the remaining part of the land to the west, where he died in 1824.His Will, dated April 1, 1819, ordered the estate to be sold to pay legacies to his children and second wife."
I do have info farther back on this Bogart family, if you would like a copy.Let me know your thoughts on this info!
