Re: Immigration of German Bogers from Ru
The church records are in good shape back to 1600, although you need to make an appointment with the church secretary beforehand, and there is a small fee involved. The Neipperg family (local royal family) apparently has a family archive with records extending back maybe another 100 years although I haven't accessed them and don't know how to do so. A family history written by August Boger in Schwaigern made use of those records. I speak no German, and language was definitely a barrier. Men speak no English, the women speak and understand it better (from doing homework with the kids). The kids understand English, but seem a bit shy about using it. There is a town history book about Schwaigern that has information about the "auswandering" that might be helpful. The village is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the vein and bier is really good. Enjoy!
