I am looking for information on any kin of Fred[erick]Bohnert, born 24 Feb 1857, Lahr, Baden, Germany. Fred Bohnert came to New York City in 1879 with his wife Sophia Caroline Gaessler, where he obtained work as a baker. His father is believed to have been John (Johann) Frederick Bohnert, b. 1824, d. 1916, Lahr, Germany. His mother was Magdaline Meier, b. 1831, d. 1910, also in Lahr. According to my aunt, he was the youngest of 17 children. I only have the names of a few of his siblings but suspect most came to the US. Fred and Sophia and their children lived in New York for several years before moving to Nebraska where he owned a billard parlor. He may have relatives who moved to Oregon, but no current living relatives on my side knew any of them. Would like to contact either US born or German born relatives of this family for exchange of information.
