Marjorie, I remember seeing your name many years ago and have appreciated your work on the Bohnert and Davis families very much. I decend from Daniel and Mary Bohnert > Ferdinand and Clarissa (Davis) Bohnert > Charles Henry and Lula (Turngage) Bohnert > Harold Loraine (aka Rainey) and Vivian Eloise (Wagner) Bohnert. Charles and Lula came to California during the dust bowl days. He was a sweetheart of a man as was my dad "Rainey." Who was/is your Mom? I have not been able to trace the Bohnerts back to Baden yet but have seen "Bohnerthofe" (which means "Bohnert farm" or "bean farm") on ancient maps of Baden. Since Daniel was naturalized in 1844, he was probably in America by 1834, if a 10 year residency was required. He was found on the 1835 business directory as a shoemaker in NY, NY. A Thurston Bohnert has responded to the postings and states that he has researched Bohnerts in Germany. I hope he still has the same email address so I can contact him. Looking forward to sharing information. My email address on the posting is current if you want to use it.
