My maiden name was Bohnert. My great grandfather August Bohnert immigrated to the US in the late 1890s or early 1900s.They came from the Alsace Lorraine area between France and Germany. He had 8 childrenmost born before they immigrated. They were August, Herman, Fred, Carl, Max, Anne, Sophia, and Freida. All are now deceased. My father and his 3 siblings and only two other cousins were the only off spring of those 8.I'm not sure where they entered the US but I would suspect they came in through NY and moved west settling in San Francisco, later Nevada and finally the Central Valley in CA.
