New York Boisens

Do any Boisen families in this forum have relatives from the New York area that are of Russian/Jewish descent? My paternal grandfather Samuel Boisen came to New York from Russia (or possibly Poland)in the late 19th century. He served in the U.S. Cavalry during the occupation of Cuba following the Spanish-American War (prior to WWI). I do not know what his surname was before he came to America, but he had siblings with the same last name (some possibly spelled Boysen). Most poeple with the last name Boisen that I hear about are of Danish desecnt (or in the case of Boysen, German) and none have been Jewish. I am hoping I can find a distant relative or two with whom I can share information about my grandfather's family.
