Boisen in NewZealand - Peter Hansen Boisen (est 1870)

I have just discovered that my family tree in NZ includes a Peter Hansen Boisen who lived in the North Island of NZ from around 1870, until he died in 1929 aged 73 (NZ bdm rec 1929/2823). Peter was a stable manager (groomsman). We believe he emigrated as a young man, to NZ around 1870 +or-.

I have this NZ bdm rec showing a Peter Hansen Boisen married to a Sarah Johnston
1884/2082 Sarah Johnston - Peter Hansen Boisen
They appear to have had 4 children ...
1885/4613 Boisen, Ethel May
1888/14157 Boisen, Ernest Albert
1889/16781 Boisen, Harold
1891/13296 Boisen, Myrtle Viola

Then in 1893 my grandmother was born in NZ but while we have records showing Peter Hansen Boisen was her father, her mother is listed as Margaret Hayes. We also have records showing she had a brother called Edward William Boisen who appears to have been Peter's son. An Edward William Boisen's death rec shows as
1970/30919 Boisen, Edward William - 84yo.
This implies Edward William Boisen was born in 1886 but I can't find an NZ birth rec for him & it clashes with the other records of a family shown above.

I am keen to trace either Peter or Edward or any related Boisens as this news about Peter Hansen Boisen alters our family history quite markedly (a big surprise to put it mildly :) ). Naturally we now are keen to understand this Scandinavian heritage.

I have ordered the NZ bdm death recs for both Peter & Edward & am hoping they will tell us where Peter came from (guessing it was Slesvig region of Denmark). Also it may shed light on why I can't find a birth rec for Edward William Boisen despite the very very strong evidence we have, that he was Peter's son & certainly my grandmother's brother (My grandmother named my uncle after him (Edward).

I gather Boisen (& Boysen) is a well identified Frisian name. I also gather there were quite a lot of Frisians who emigrated due to the conflict between Germany & Denmark in the mid 1800s in the Slesvig (Schleswig) region.

Any clues or hits or help would be greatly appreciated.
