Regarding your posting dated June 22, 2000. I am headed to New Orleans the end of this week to do a job and to also research my Boisseau line. I have been there before, but seem to be running out of ideas and am failing to find much new info. I was wondering anything you might suggest regarding reseaching in New Orleans? Also, regarding the book or books you mentioned, are they downstairs in the library, or are the upstairs in the genealogy research section?
Quickly let me give you my line as I know it.
Eugene Boisseau b. @1832 in either LA or Virgina (most info seems to indicate LA), married first a Isabella E. Garcia (had a daughter named Eugenia) and later Rosa Taylor from whom I'm descended. Children with Rosa were: Stephen Eugene, Adelaide May, Lorella Eugenia, and Benjamin Franklin.
Stephen Eugene Boisseau b. 1880 in New Orleans married Mary Frances Hays. Children: John Eugene, Eugenia, and Frances Clementine (also known as Yvonne)
John Eugene Boisseau (my father) b. 1917 in IA married Hellen Marie Tate (also known as Karla Marie Hawley). Children: John Eugene Jr., Charles Hayley, and me Thomas Hays.
My newest info indicates that Eugene b. 1832, his father MAY have been named Joachim. This is based on city directories that show the only Boisseau living in New Orleans at that time was named Joachim. Additionally the 1860 census shows a 50 year old female living with Eugene who was then 28. Her name appears on the census, but it is very difficult to read. My guess is it might be Agnes Louise, but I am not certain. I assume this to be Eugene's mother. It says she was from Jersey Island France.
Anyway, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thomas Hays Boisseau
