Small farm?About 3000 acres on Wellesly Island, they say.Quite an operation, including the 'largest poultry farm in NY state.'George C. Boldt supposedly came alone in 1864 at age 13 from the island of RĂ¼gen in the Baltic, but I've always suspected he had family here before coming, and may have brought family to join him later, as I've come across mention of his mother's NY City residence being robbed.Boldt didn't settle on Wellesley Island as a farmer, but acquired land there after making his fortune elsewhere.
