Recently I discovered a marriage in Scioto County, Ohio for a Frederick Boldman and a Phebie Hodges on 30 August, 1834 by John B. Dodds, Justice of the Peace. It may have been the Frederick passed through Scioto County, stayed with some of his brothers in the area and perhaps married Phebie and moved on to Illinois before the 1840 census. Hope this offers you a clue. This Boldman family can be very illusive at times.
