As far as we've been able to find out, John Harmon Bonecutter aka Hermann Knochenhaue, came to this country as a canoneer, member of the Hessian Artillary with the British forces at the time of the Revoluntionary War. As of yet no one has found out where in Germany he lived. He died in Fayette County Ohio some time after 1830.

He had quite a colorful career, moving from Virginia to Maryland to Virginia and then to Ohio. I am descended from his son Christopher Bonecutter/Buncutter through his son, James H Buncutter.
