Hello Cynthia,
As I understand it my James Boner who married Elizabeth Delp of Manchester Twp, York, PA, 1852, was directly from Ireland. However, he had relatives he visited in Philadelphia named Armstrong. The children of that family were Becky and Nellie Boner Armstrong. Becky married a Riggins. There was another daughter, but don't know her name. These were cousins to my grandfather.

James Sr. had a sister Catherine Jane Boner, who attended Killygordon School in 1839 (family Bible). We also have a marriage certificate of James Boner m. Rachel Calhoun in 1841 in Ireland (Could be him or a relative--we think he married in Ireland, but Rachel died or didn't come to the U.S.).

So the Armstrong family may have been Catherine Jane who married an Armstrong. So we would see Catherine and X Armstrong with three daughters. Nellie died about 1886 at age 17. Rebecca Riggins lived to be quite old, I believe until the 1930's.

It's quite possible that James had previous generations of family members living in the U.S. before him in the York Area. The family lore has it that the early Boner family split into the northern Lancaster part and the southern York/Shrewsbury area. Also, Harry Bonner, d. 1994, mayor of Shrewsbury, PA was the son of Frederick Bonner, son of Frederick Boner, who was James and Elizabeth's son.

I hope someday to be able to make the Ireland connection.

Have a great day. Stay in touch.
Thanks,
Kathy
