Dear Lee,
You mentioned the family of Herman and Elizabeth Bonhage of the late 1800s and early 1900s and the fact that you can't find them on the Census.Since you have her death record date 1948 (hopefully with her maiden name included), you might consider checking the Census under her father's name. Also, Mary Pharr had written on June 2 (message 22) that Herman A. Bonhage was living at the same address as my ggf August Bonhage according to the 1890 BCD at 1514 N. Washington St.Maybe Herman is listed under August's name on the census!?August married in Feb. 1889 so he might be listed as head of household at that address.I have not viewed any census records yet.
I find it interesting that you noted Philip Bonhage was born in Hesse Cassel (b. abt 1845) per the 1880 MD census card, and that Mary Pharr has noted (in message 21) that Henry W. Bonhage was born May 1835 in Hesse Cassel also!Do you think they may have been brothers?Makes me wonder if my gggf August Bonhage (the tailor) was another brother from there. His son, August (the brewer) was born in Balti in 1863, so the tailor should have been born about the same time period!Hmm . . .
