Thanks for the information.I agree, I think many Bonneys say, oh he must be part of the family, but in fact he may not even be a Bonney, but all we know is what is written in the court papers and a few papers found in the Midwest (on his family's route from the East).
I actually got the connection to my family and I have expanded greatly, going out to Oregon and Washington State via Sacramento (Sutter's Fort) in 1845, right before the gold rush.
There is just an unbelievably heart-breaking story from Samuel Sherwood Bonney on his trip on the Oregon trail with his family.They expanded and now have parts of the Ht. Hood National Park named after his descendents (such as Bonney Butte) named after Augustus A. Bonney.
I am now now heading back into England to get information on John Augustus Bonney (part ofthe London Corresponding Society and was jailed in the Tower of London in 1794, I believe.
I noticed the Bonney family definitely expanded rapidly, some families have more than a dozen children.
What is your linkage to the Bonneys?
