Hi Sarah
My great grandmother was Josephine Docar Bonnieman born 1863 Turriff Aberdeenshire, at that place her father James Bonnieman was the Railway Stationmaster. He had been born 1829 in Keith Banffshire.
Charlotte was married 1882 Maybole Ayrshire and her address was Culzean Castle, which yes is an impressive edifice.
The father of Charlotte was James Bonnyman died 1862 Eastertoun of Mayen Rothiemay, his occupation Gamekeeper and Forester age 44. The mother was Isabella Duff and she deceased before James.
The informant at James death cert was his dau Jane Bonnyman.
James was widower of Isabella and James was illegitimate son of Alexander Bonnyman occ Farm Servant and Margaret Munro.
I am intrigued with the surname Bonnieman and its several variant spellings and have recorded bmd's as much as I can for the surname so if you any further queries please ask
Regards
Robert Thomson
