Under Alva F. Book 1908, Second history of Lawrence County.
His parents were Ferdinand and Sarah R. (Showers) Book. The Book family was a pioneer in this section and it's members have been indentfied weth the development of Mahoning Township for many years. Ferdinand Book was a son of Jacob Book and was a lifeling resident of this township where he died June 14, 1894. He married Sarah Showers and they had seven childern. The three who survive being Frank G., residing Pulaske, PA. and Alva F. and Sarah Idella, the latter of whom is the wife of Charles Cowden of Youngstown, OH. Alva F. Book married Anna Isabella Wallace, daughter of John and Mancy Wallace of Union Township, Lawrence Co., and they have three childern Ferdenand W., Nancy R. and John A.
