john wilkes booth's acting career
I am doing research of a Louise Catherine Wooster, b. June 13, 1842, in Mobile County, Alabama. Louise or Lou Wooster was quite a character in Alabama history. Supposedly Belle Whatling, the madam in Gone With The Wind, was modeled after Lou Wooster. In her memoires Wooster claims to have had an affair with John Wilkes Booth while he was on his acting circuit, either in St. Louis, Missouri or even in Alabama.
I have spotted some actors in 1850 in Mobile Co. Alabama census, one is from Missouri and he could have possibly acted with Booth in St. Louis. Actors were quite itinerant in those days, finding work or performing where they could.
The actors name was William Kent, b. ca. 1827 in Missouri.
The other actors names are John Tyler, b. N.J. and John Hunt, b. ca. 1805 in New York.
Any help from keen researchers will be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to link some of these actors of that period together for a book, a biography, I am writing.
HELP!!!
