Hi Bena,
Ok, I realize that you posted this message on genealogy.com over two years ago:
"You have helped me find my great grandfather, Henry Martin Booth who married Rolla Jessie Hedges in Bates co Missouri. He and Frank came to Rich Hill in 1890 +- and was the first photographer in the area. Please respond with any info you may have about Moses Booth! thank you! Bena Boughan McClure"
I'm so sorry that I haven't noticed it until now!I am so happy that you were able to make a connection with my Booth family list that I posted.I would think that more people would be able to, considering how many children Moses and Louisa had!
As far as my info on Moses Booth goes...he married Louisa H. Johnson (I don't know what the H. stands for) and in 1856 left Erie County, PA in a covered wagon, and settled in New Oregon, Howard County, Iowa. From there, as you know, the Booth kids married and scattered.Moses Booth died on July 3, 1896, just two weeks after Louisa died.According to the obituary in the newspaper from that time, he died of a "broken heart."Henry of Rich Hill, MO, is mentioned in the obit, as one of the six sons to attend the funeral.Apparently, Moses' funeral was the first time EVER all six of his sons had been together at one time.Moses and Louisa are buried at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cresco, IA.
The information I have on Henry:
Henry Martin Booth was born on June 14, 1853 in Erie County, PA.He married Rolla Hodges on July 22, 1884.Their children were Beryl, Harry, Frances, Shirley, and James.Henry is the only sibling that I don't have any info on his death.Do you know the date and where he's buried?
You mentioned that his younger brother Frank went with him to MO.If you're interested in info about Frank...he married Edith Bryant, and his children were Fern (Booth) Johnson and Margaret (Booth) Klein.According to a family record I have, dated over 30 years ago already, Margaret Booth Klein was given the Moses Booth Family Bible. The info I have says that Margaret is from Middleton, Ohio.Do you happen to know who she is?I don't think that she's probably living anymore, but I don't know her birthdate so I can't say for sure.Anyway, I sure would like to see that Bible!
I hope this info helps. Please email me back, I would love to hear from you and swap information!
