Thanks, Stephen.
I haven't followed that line yet.I keep trying to put together a sensible database of the (mostly Honley) Boothroyds in hope that I'll eventually sort them out.The early ones are fairly straightforward as are those that can be worked backwards but around the turn of the C19th we end up with multiple Josephs, Johns, Georges etc.I've more or less put it into abeyance whilst I write some software to help.
One of the little gems I came across was the fact that there were TWO John Boothroyd/Betty Hawkyard marriages, 10 Oct 1764 and 24 May 1790.Yours must be the 2nd.However there's quite a gap between the marriage and Lydia's birth.I find the PoB given for Lydia is Stockwell Row (which I can't place off-hand, neither can I find it in the 1851 Census for Honley). There was an Ann born to John at Stockwell Row in 1801.
There are no other candidates with Stockwell Row given as the father's abode but other Honley baptisms of the children of John Boothroyds in the period are:
Mary, 1803
Mark, 1802
Benaiah, 1799 (mentioned on another thread here),
Joseph 1798 (one of my ancestors, I think. The father's name is given as John Jnr.The date of baptism is late in the year and that of Benaiah is early in the next year so they're probably not the same family)
Hannah, 1796
George, 1794
Joseph, 1793
Grace, 1792
George, 1790
In all cases except the earliest the father's occupation is given as clothier but this was a very common occupation at the time so it doesn't help too much.
I see you have another Boothroyd/Boothroyd marriage.I have one of those, Jane, daughter of Joseph (above) and George, son of George, probably also one of the above Georges.
Jabuz (or Jabez) isn't on IGI nor in my CDs of Almondbury and Kirkburton parish baptisms. However Holmfirth chapel registers seem to have ceased being written up in Almondbury and there's a gap before they were transcribed in their own right by IGI.They are, however, on fiche so this has to go on my list for my next trip to the library.
