BOOTS/RIDOUT/RIDEOUT researchers
Dear Boots, Ridout, Rideout, and related researchers,
If you have read other J Erickson posts you may know that we have been on something of a quest for every fact, however small, about Ridout and related families for some time now. Several months ago, I began to discover small “coincidences” among the bits of information we were amassing, and we realized that if every stone were unturned, we might be on to a larger truth about the Ridout and Rideout families. So I began to collect even more furiously, and to write a paper, to determine the parentage of Dr. Isaac Ridout, the ancestor of many of the RIDOUTs of Iowa, Washington, and California. Families married into/descended from this line include CADE, BOOTS, THOMPSON, LONG, LOGSDON, DAWSON, GOTHAM.
The result of this collection of vital records, land records, and reference works is entitled “Building a Case for Golda Rideout Soffe: Why Dr. Isaac IS Isaac Chase Rideout.” Rather than sending a copy of every record for every researcher to sort through (or worse yet, not sending copies), I believe that in writing this paper I have collected and shown connections between resources we do not all have access to, which will further the research of all who have an interest in the branch, and allow you to choose whether to acquire the primary sources yourself or to cite the sources as quoted within this thesis.
“Building a Case...” is 43 pages long, including charts, extensive footnotes, and a full bibliography. It has been soft bound with vinyl covers. I would like to make sure that every researcher with a connection to the family has the opportunity to read through our discoveries. The work discusses not only direct descendants of Dr. Isaac Ridout, but also many of his RIDEOUT siblings, who married into the HALL (sometimes misspelled Hull), BARTON, WHERRY, RANDALL, KELLOGG, MUCHMORE, HARDESTY (Hardisty), and BADEN families.
Please email us for details on receiving a copy of this paper. We would like to have a count of how many copies we need as soon as possible, and we intend to send out all before Thanksgiving, so please email us,
Regards,
Kelly and James Erickson
